In the famous song by Simon and Garfunkel titled, “Mrs. Robinson”, they ask,” where have you gone Joe DiMaggio our nation turns its lonely eyes to you?”Today, we are asking the same question,” where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?”
With rising unemployment rates, rising cost at the gas pump, rising costs at the grocery store, rising cost on our taxes, lower salaries, no jobs and worse, no hope, our president suggested he will now roll up his sleeves. See link to Real Clear Politics; http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/07/08/obama_on_fixing_unemployment_im_ready_to_roll_up_my_sleeves.htmlI seem to remember a speech he gave when all seemed hopeless with Obama care. He said he will not rest until everyone in America that wants to work will work.He deflected the issue of Obamacare to one of great importance, jobs. Yet,it is over a year and a half since that speech and unemployment and the misery level have considerably risen.
In between golf outings and vacations, the president has commanded the American people to sacrifice. They continue to party at the White House, take extended vacations with friends and family, and tell us that we are unpatriotic if we don’t pay more in taxes. While Nancy Pelosi was speaker, she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to utilize military planes that provided alcohol and food to entertain her family and friends. That’s sacrifice?
If, we agree with the premise, that the president worked hard to get everyone a job after the speech over year and a half ago, then we are in worse trouble than I can envision. We all know the many problems our world and country face. However we are constantly told that if we don’t correct this economic problem and that economic problem then we are heading for armegeddon. It seems each turn has a worse problem than the next. Yet, after each solution the problems exacerbate. As we see in Greece, one bailout begets another bailout. We can keep raising our debt ceiling but will not stop the problem of spending.
What, if anything, can any government do to create jobs? The biggest problem lays in the lack of confidence the American people have in the current system. Banks are not lending money. Homeowners are scared. Consumers do not know where their next dollar will come from.
Our elected officials continue to lie to us, continue to speak out of both sides of their mouth and they continue to talk about our future. While I talk about our future, each and every today goes by. We constantly hear that our children and grandchildren’s future is being mortgaged and will not be able to pay that bill when it comes do. I want to pay my bills today. I’m not worried about the future. There is no future this only today. And until the conversation turns to what are we doing today we won’t have a future.
Barack Obama is no different than George Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush(the father) ,etc. etc. Each of these presidents like their predecessors are beholden to their major donors. They know the American people will fall in lockstep because we have no choice. America, we do have a choice.
Lately, the conversation turns to our founding fathers. When these men soaring justice, they acted. When we see injustice, we send e-mails and make phone calls TV and rate a radio talk shows. Well folks, Sean Hannity doesn’t speak for me. David Brooks doesn’t speak for me. I speak for me.
I am America and I say it’s time to stand up and take back our country
